Appointments

Make an appointment by visiting our Consulting Room.

We advise you to register online where possible for all of our services, if you are not able to book online please contact the patient navigation team to book your appointments.

Appointments can be booked up to 6 weeks in advance. One appointment is for one patient only. If there is more than one patient that wishes to be seen, please inform the patient navigator to ensure an appointment is allocated to each patient.

We have nurse practitioners who are able to see and treat a range of conditions such as minor illness, minor injury, and blood pressure. Where possible the patient navigation team will book with the  team in the first instant.

If you call the practice to book an appointment, our team the patient navigators will ask for brief details of your illness/ symptoms. This is at the request of our doctors to ensure that you are directed to the right clinician the first time

When an urgent telephone call is requested from the duty doctor, the doctor will only try to contact you once, so please stay by the phone.

Telephone advice

If you wish to speak to your doctor, he is usually available after morning and evening surgeries. Please tell the receptionist the nature of your call where possible, and be prepared to ring back. The receptionists have instructions not to interrupt during surgeries unless urgent, as it is very disruptive and leads to considerable delays in the appointment system.

Phone calls from the duty doctors

When an urgent telephone call is requested from the duty doctor, the doctor will only try to contact you once, so please stay by the phone.

Practice Nurses

In a number of cases it might considered an appointment with a practice nurse is appropriate rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many ailments and you may be seen more quickly. Nurses’ appointment times vary depending on procedure.

Interpreter

If you require an interpreter when arranging an appointment with one of our health care professionals, please make our patient navigator team aware as you will require a longer appointment time and we will need to book an interpreter with the service provider.

If you require this service but we are not aware your appointment may have to be re- arranged. Please also note that friends or family members will not be able to act as your interpreter.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason, please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.

Out of Hours

This surgery uses 111 service, which has replaced NHS Direct. If you have a serious medical problem when the surgery is closed please use this number.

When you call the 111, you will be asked for details including your name, address and what you are calling about. Depending what your problem is, you may be offered a call back from a GP, GP visit or self help advice. If your problem appears more serious you may need to visit A&E.

Please note: the out of hours service cannot deal with injuries. If you are too badly hurt to treat yourself you must go the Casualty Department at Milton Keynes Hospital.

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
