Hard of Hearing

A new Support Group for Adults with Hearing loss has recently been established under the umbrella of SARC (Sensory Advice Resource Centre), Milton Keynes. This Organisation is funded by Milton Keynes Council to give assessments, support and equipment to all people with a hearing and visual impairment in Milton Keynes.

The Group meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays in the month from 10.30 – 11.30 a.m. at the Milton Keynes Centre for Integrated Living, situated within the Church of Christ the Cornerstone at Milton Keynes City Centre, this being a very central location.

The format of the Group at the current time takes the form of 1st meeting being a Coffee Morning, to enable people to circulate and get to know each other.

The 2nd meeting takes the format of a visitor, relevant to hearing loss, giving a presentation.

The 3rd meeting is a discussion/support/information giving session, which is proving to be very popular.

The January 20th 2015 meeting is a presentation on Hearing Dogs for the Deaf.

The February 17th meeting will be a presentation by PoHwer, an Advocacy Organisation offering services to the disabled community and the

March 17th meeting will consist of a presentation by the Head of Audiology at Milton Keynes Hospital, together with a Colleague who has worked with Cochlear Transplant patients. The presentation will be followed by a questions and answers session.

The format of the meetings may change as the Group develops.

Anyone in Milton Keynes with a Hearing Loss is very welcome to attend these support meetings.
