Prescriptions

You can order a repeat prescription in a number of ways:

  • Online
  • Place your request slip in the box in reception indicating clearly which items you require. If you supply a stamped addressed envelope your prescription will be posted back to you. (Please allow extra time for posting)
  • Some chemists provide a prescription collection service and will dispense your medication ready for collection. Please arrange this directly with the pharmacy.

Please allow 48/72 hours, excluding weekends and bank holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please let us know.

We encourage all patients to register for our system online, this way you can order your repeat prescriptions through our website. To register for this, please complete our online Register for Online Services form.

Long term medication

Some patients will need to be on long term medication;  this will be authorised and prescribed by the doctor. The left hand sheet of the prescription is used by the chemist to dispense the medication. The right hand sheet (request slip) is retained by the patient and used when medication is next required.

Please do not try to order your medication online more than 7 days in advance as the system will not allow this to be processed.

Please note, we do not take requests for repeat medication over the telephone, the exception to this would be for housebound patients only.

Please also note we do not take prescription requests at the desk. You will be asked to fill out a request form if you do not have your printout.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, pharmacist, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Please allow between two to three full working days for prescriptions to be processed, and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account. If a pharmacy is collecting your prescription on your behalf please allow an extra working day

Pharmacy services

Prescriptions should be handed placed in the red prescription box next to the prescription counter at reception, or in the prescription box outside. Please allow 48 hours for the prescription to be processed excluding weekends and public and bank holidays.

It may be possible for your repeat prescription to be collected for you by your preferred chemist. For this service we will require 72 hours notice. This excludes weekends and public bank holidays.

You will need to notify the prescription clerk or chemist if you would like this service as a permanent arrangement.
