As many of you will have already seen, the government have announced that an additional 1.7 million individuals will be added to the ‘shielding patient list’ as of this month
The government, alongside the University of Oxford have created a tool known as ‘QCovid’ which calculates the risk of an individual catching and becoming seriously unwell from COVID. Factors identified in this increased risk include ethnicity, age, certain health conditions or treatments and social-economic background.
Please be aware that as a GP service, we do not contribute to this tool and will be unable to assist with your queries relating to your level of risk as we have not been provided with specific information about this. NHS digital will be adding individuals to the shielding list over the next 10 days, and if you are one of the 1.7 million you will be notified via letter.
Please also be aware that if you are in priority group 5 (ages 65-69) the government are asking that you please book your vaccines through the national booking service – this will mean you receive your vaccine at a vaccine centre or a community pharmacy. PCN vaccine sites like ours are being asked to focus on priority group 6 which includes all individuals ages 18-64 that are clinically vulnerable (not extremely clinically vulnerable ie not asked to shield).
As per previous posts you will be contacted either centrally by the government or by us directly – please do NOT contact us for vaccine appointments.
We thank you for your continued support!
